As we look back on the year 2022, it’s clear that the Global Shapers Community Mogadishu Hub had a truly successful year. We achieved a number of important milestones that helped to increase our impact and reach in the community.

First and foremost, we are proud to have elected a strong and dedicated leadership team for the Hub. Mohamed Okash was elected as Curator, Bahja Ali as Vice Curator and Mohamed Shidane as Impact Officer. Their leadership has been instrumental in guiding the Hub through the challenges of the past year, and we are confident that they will continue to steer the Hub in the right direction in the years to come.

One of the most significant achievements of the year was the redesign of our structure after two years of COVID-19 crisis. This helped us to adapt to the changing circumstances and better serve the needs of our community. The new structure allowed us to streamline our operations, improve communication and collaboration within the organization, and better align our activities with the needs of the community.

We were also thrilled to see Mohamed Okash participate in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos 2022 as the first-ever Somali Shaper from Mogadishu Hub, and the only Somali national to attend the meeting. This was a powerful representation of the potential of young leaders in Somalia, and helped to raise the profile of the Hub and the country on the global stage.

Another major achievement was Mohamed Okash’s participation in the first Global Shapers Summit in Geneva 2022 after two years of pause due to COVID-19. This provided an opportunity for the Hub to connect with other young leaders and decision-makers from around the world and share ideas and perspectives.

We also launched our new website and activated social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. This helped to increase the visibility and reach of the Hub and build a sense of community around our organization.

We also signed a partnership agreement with number local organizations to foster impact including SIMAD ilab, SDGS252, Isquared, and ICE Institute. These partnerships helped to increase the organization’s resources and networks, and enabled it to make an even greater impact in the community.

Finally, we revised our policies and adopted new policy frameworks including the recruitment policy. This helped us to ensure that the Hub was operating in a transparent and efficient manner.

All in all, 2022 was a very successful year for the Global Shapers Community Mogadishu Hub and we are looking forward to continuing our efforts in the years to come to make a positive impact in the community.
